My name is Melissa and I am totally psyched to be serving in Philly this summer!! A little about me…
I was born and raised in Wisconsin and am a senior at UW Platteville studying physical education. I knew that I needed Jesus at a very young age, but I grew up in a home where my parents were brand new Christians and were learning alongside me. In God’s grace and mercy He kept putting me in places where I would learn and be grounded in scripture. In college I got involved in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and quickly got plugged in. Through IV, God has shown me the leadership abilities He has given me and He has been developing leadership skills in me ever since. I come from a small country town and even attend a small country school. Before college I never would have pictured myself serving in a city, but through different experiences God has really given me a heart for urban ministry. I’m excited for this summer to get a really good feel for what urban ministry looks like. Besides all that, some interesting facts about me…hhmmm….my favorite color is green, I played piano for ten years, I’m a rugby player, I love the outdoors and anything adventurous, I have 2 brothers (one older one younger), and I LOVE the water! I can’t wait to meet everybody!
